I want to share my experience in researching Yearbooks. First, I was looking for a picture of my husband in high school. So I looked at U.S. School Yearbooks, 1900 – 1999, for Booker T. Washington High School. I found a picture, but it wasn’t him. So I went to the page, and the view was the person next to him. So it was indexed wrong.
Another time I was looking for my sorority sister’s senior college picture. I found her name, but the image was not hers. Since I knew the person pictured, I looked for their name and found my sorority sister’s picture. That indeed was the fault of the yearbook staff.
Something good did come from my search for my distant cousin. I found him in high school and college. Also, while searching for him, I saw his father’s picture. His father worked for a school system and showed up in the database.
Below is my Senior High School picture.
This week the theme is “Yearbook.”
Plus it looks like somebody signed the photo next to yours? When I found my uncle’s yearbook I was surprised to see he had signed the photo for a classmate of his!
