2022 – #52 Ancestors Challenge – Week 36 – Exploration

The theme for Week 36 and September is “Exploration.” Where did your ancestors explore? Who moved around a lot? You could also share records, libraries, or archives that you’ve explored in.

There used to be a slogan that said, “Join the Army and see the World.” At Ancestry, I found a Pennsylvania, U.S., Arriving Passenger and Crew Lists for Floyd D. Beal. Floyd was the uncle of my only first cousin. He arrived from Frankfurt, Germany by plane [Military Air Transport] to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania [McGuire AFB, Wrightstown, New Jersey] on 10 Feb. 1956. I remember Uncle Floyd visiting our home during his visits to the States. He joined the military during World War II as a young man, and when he retired, he decided to stay in Germany.

I missed the opportunity to see him several times when I visited Frankfurt, Germany. I guess I am a bit of an explorer myself. Below is a picture of me with my husband and daughter in Germany. While I was there, I did visit several other countries.

I also had the opportunity to work in the United Kingdom for a week or so. Below is a picture of me with a friend in London.
